Bassam Mahfouz
Constituency: Ealing and Hillingdon
Year elected: 2024
About
Bassam has lived in the constituency for more than 40 years after fleeing war in Lebanon as a child. He has served as an Ealing councillor since 2005, representing Northolt and serving in the Cabinet since 2010.
He has campaigned for social justice, step-free access at Greenford and Hanwell stations, a progressive council tax support scheme and the London Living Wage. He also led environmental work that made Ealing one of London’s top recycling boroughs and ended the council’s use of landfill.
Before joining the London Assembly, Bassam ran a refugee charity supporting more than 2,000 people each year and worked for a G15 housing association on inclusion and advice services.
