About
Joanne was elected to the London Assembly in June 2004. She was appointed Statutory Deputy Mayor in May 2016 and is Deputy Mayor for Children and Families.
Before entering politics, Joanne was a barrister specialising in employment law and an adjudicator for the Housing Ombudsman. She served on Enfield Council from 1998 to 2006.
As Deputy Mayor, Joanne has led work on the Mayor’s universal free school meals programme, the Young Londoners Fund and Early Years Hubs for disadvantaged children. As an Assembly Member, she has campaigned for rail devolution, improvements to the Piccadilly line and action on child poverty.
