Anti-Hindu hate is often overlooked and underreported. Krupesh Hirani AM is campaigning to improve understanding of anti-Hindu hate in London, strengthen reporting, and ensure the police have the information they need to respond effectively.

Why we’re campaigning

There is currently no dedicated official category for anti-Hindu hate crime in national statistics. At the same time, police recorded more than 10,000 religious hate crimes in England and Wales in 2025.

This makes it harder to identify the scale and nature of anti-Hindu hate in official data and understand how effectively incidents are being reported and investigated. That is why this campaign supports better reporting and a stronger evidence base to help tackle abuse, intimidation, discrimination and online hate.

What we’re calling for

We want London’s institutions to take anti-Hindu hate seriously and use better information to improve their response.

  • Increase awareness of the Anti-Hindu Hate Monitor so more people know how to report anti-Hindu hate
  • The Metropolitan Police Service should include a breakdown of hate crime by religion on its Crime Dashboard
  • The Metropolitan Police Service should use available reporting data to better understand anti-Hindu hate and support investigations

What we’ve done

In 2023, Krupesh Hirani AM filed a motion on anti-Hindu hate to the London Assembly. The motion passed unanimously and called for the Metropolitan Police Service to work with Hindu communities to encourage reporting and to publish hate crime data by religion on its Crime Dashboard.

In 2025, he brought together community organisations, London’s Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, the Metropolitan Police Service, the Crown Prosecution Service and the Community Security Trust to share experiences and raise awareness of anti-Hindu hate.

He has also worked with the International Centre for Sustainability (ICfS) following the launch of the Anti-Hindu Hate Monitor reporting platform.

Take action

No one should face anti-Hindu hate in silence. If you experience or witness anti-Hindu abuse, intimidation, discrimination or online hate, reporting it can help build the evidence needed to make sure incidents are understood and taken seriously.

We also have leaflets available. Please email [email protected] to share them with your community.
